Marsha was born in Tacoma, Washington on April 30, 1936, the second of three children. Her father was a Washington State park ranger, providing the opportunity to live in various parks, including a log home at Millersylvania State Park. Her park experiences continued when she worked a summer at the Paradise Inn on Mt. Rainier. She was an excellent student and attended Central Washington University. Marsha married Stan, her eighth grade Toledo sweetheart, in 1958. For 22 years, Marsha worked as a secretary for Julius A. Wendt Elementary School. Selfless and servant-hearted aptly describe Marsha. Her calm patience and gentleness left an impression on the many students and staff who came to her for help.
Marsha loved family and was always willing for a bike ride, a game or to take the grandkids camping. She was an excellent cook and grew beautiful flowers in her backyard. She played the piano and organ, served as church secretary, Sunday School teacher, and volunteered in many community endeavors. Marsha’s artistic abilities were expressed in sewing, quilting, embroidery, knitting, and painting.
Marsha is survived by her brother, William Kirk Glenn (Glenn), her children, Deanne Thorsvik (Brian), Lisa Ledgerwood, Christine Marks (Doyle), Stan Woody Jr. (Shaudine), her grandchildren, Jonathan Thorsvik (Renee), Alex Eakin (Tenaya), Daniel Thorsvik, Andrew Thorsvik (Kristen), Abby Durtschi (Travis), Chris Thorsvik (Manuela), Taylor Ledgerwood, Claire Folkins (Dom), Maddie Eakin, Ashley Woody, Hailey Woody, Hunter Woody, as well as 20 great-grandchildren.
Marsha lived with a thankful attitude and was known for her cheerful smile. Her greatest impact was her quiet but strong faith in God, expressed in her habit of morning Bible reading and prayer. This was Marsha’s source of strength for a life well lived until she was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on November 6, 2024.
Joined in marriage for 66 years, Marsha and Stan both entered God’s presence within 5 days of each other. Stan and Marsha loved living in the Elochoman Valley and this community for the past 50 years. Please join us for the celebration of Stan and Marsha’s lives at The Bridge Church in Cathlamet on November 23rd at noon. There will be a time of food and fellowship following the service.
